TIPPI

TIPPI

Hello good people at GHS!

Just thought I’d drop you a line about little Tippi (aka Tippitina, Tipper, Tipsy, Tiki Tippi and numerous other names in a variety of languages). A friend of mine is an AKC judge and she seems to think that Tippi could very well be GWP or WPG but no matter what she is, we love her dearly. She’s still just as sweet and playful as ever. We brought her home in August and she is now one of the most popular dogs in the neighborhood. Everyone marvels at her friendly demeanor, blonde highlights and beautiful eyes (“clear as glass,” one woman said). People see us from their windows and come out to say hello when we go on our walks; Tippi knows exactly which houses dole out the treats and jogs right up their driveways, so we have to be careful about her girlish figure (that dog can eat like nobody’s business!). Luckily, Tippi is extremely athletic and well socialized with other dogs, but she is especially fond of her “boyfriend” Digby, another rescue who moved in three doors down a couple weeks after Tippi.

Although Tippi has her own ideas about decorating (she has tried to rearrange the furniture a little), likes to chase lizards, hides socks and does her own version of fashion consulting (she’s made me replace a couple pairs of shoes), she has been a wonderful addition to our home, a true blessing. I’m so glad we found each other.

Training in most areas has been pretty successful. She follows basic commands and does a few tricks now, but she seems to have selective perception (or maybe a little ADD) as far as the heel command goes, especially when there’s another dog around. Tippi still suffers a little from separation anxiety, but it’s not as bad as it used to be (apparently).

Thanks to everyone at GHS for all the good work you do, but in particular, I want to thank Ellen who has been extremely thoughtful and kind. And just so you know, one of the essay topics I regularly assign for my college writing class deals with responsible pet ownership. Attached is a recent photo of Tippi. We had to let her hair grow out after the groomer decided he wanted to play up the terrier look. Take care and my best to you all.

Sincerely,
Hope Yoneshige

KIWI

KIWI

Dearest friends at GHS,
I have to tell you that I’ve arrived fine at my new home. The first two days I was a little confused and lost my appetite. My mommy and daddy took me to the vet and he said I had an infection so they gave me some medicine and I’m feeling so much better.
I love it here, I live in Mount Washington, so every day my parents take me for a walk in the morning and at night. Last weekend we had a very long walk and I had a great time. I am very pampered! I already sleep by my mommy’s bed and hang with my daddy who loves to play music all day while I sleep under his desk.
I want to thank you for taking care of me, and I have to say I miss you, but I will stop by soon to say hi. Say hi to all my friends there.
Love always!
Kiwi

JAKE

JAKE

We adopted Jake (formerly Jigaloo - left) in September and wanted to let you know he is doing great. After an initial adjustment period (it turns out he does like to chase kitties!), he is settling in very well. He and our dog Riley love each other and play together all the time. Jake has also decided he likes the good life - he’s taken over our family room sofa as his personal domain! He is a sweet boy and we love him. Thanks for taking care of him until he found the right home.

ZELDA

ZELDA

Hello all -
I can’t believe that it’s been 9 months since you introduced me to my new family. The time has just flown and every moment has been so much fun with them. My name is Zelda but you knew me briefly as Penelope. I am now 19 months old and my mommy and daddy say that I am growing up nicely. I love everyone and everything and throw my 65 pounds of that joy into everything I do. My mommy or daddy take me running almost every weekday morning for several miles and even more miles each day on the weekends. We sneak onto the beach sometimes and run around, especially if I find another dog friend to play with. I get big juicy bones almost everyday… something about keeping me from chewing on other things that I shouldn’t. My mommy and daddy went away for a few days around the holidays and one of their friends stayed with me and he had a dog. We had so much fun playing all day long!
Thank you so much for allowing me into their lives.
Regards,
Zelda (and Lindsey and Yvon)

CHARLOTTE

CHARLOTTE

We adopted Charlotte in May 2006, and she has turned out to be the best dog. She is soooo sweet and loving. She loves everybody and all the other dogs and cats she meets. She recently got a brother - Junior. They just love each other and are very good companions. Thanks for our dog.
