DIXIE

DIXIE

Hi !
We just thought we’d drop you a note to let you know that we ADORE Dixie! She is the perfect addition to our family. She is such a loving, sweet doggie - completely irresistible! We keep thinking she’s “too good to be true”, but she truly is just a dream. She is also a great companion for Cooper. The first week she was with us she slept a LOT. I think that it was difficult to adapt to the new surroundings. However, she had no problem finding her favorite spot on the sofa. We go on walks every day, and we’re working on going further distances each day to get her into shape! As it turns out, she’s not exactly house trained, but we’re working on that using the tips we were given at the pre-adoption training. We had 18 guests for Thanksgiving, and she was GREAT with everyone, including the kids. She has such a wonderful, friendly temperament, and we just love her. She is also very funny - she lays in the most uncomfortable looking positions.

Thanks for helping us find Dixie - we are really just overjoyed to welcome her into our family! You are a wonderful organization and I’ll be referring you to all of my friends and family.
Sincerely,
Jeannine & Frank Clark

FRISKY & SAMANTHA

FRISKY & SAMANTHA

Greetings to all at the GHS,
Please find attached some pics of my wonderful cats I adopted from the Glendale Center back around July of ’05. They are doing well in my new home in Wrightwood, California. The grey & white was Cossette, now Frisky. The black & white was Violet, now Samantha.

WILBUR

WILBUR

Hello!
Thank you for calling to check in on Popeye (we have actually named him Wilbur!). He’s doing great and is such a good puppy! He cleans up very well (as you can see from the attached pictures).
Wilbur’s health is great, except he had Coccidia when we first took him to the vet. But we gave him medicine for 10 days and now he’s all better! I think the parasite is very common in puppies.
We also wanted to see if you had any info on his sister, Olive Oyl? We want to make sure she’s doing ok as well.
Thanks for checking in! We love Wilbur and are very happy that we have him!
THANK YOU!

WYLIE

WYLIE

Wylie (aka Waylon)
Wylie has been a Godsend to our home. We have just fallen in love with him. He is doing really well with us. When he came into our life he was weary of most people but has gotten friendlier with others but is very protective of us. Since he is a short legged dog we have all lower all our beds to the floor to make it easier for him to jump up to cuddle with us. He protects our home and helps all of us to be happier and less stressed. He gets lots of tummy rubs every night and many walks throughout the day. And we get unlimited love from him. He is just the perfect dog for our family.
Thanks!

TESS

TESS

Hello Alyce and Company,
I thought that you might like to know how life with our little lady, Tess, is progressing. October 6th was our one year anniversary of having her as a family member and I cannot picture our family without her in it. She is a blessing and she has enriched our lives a thousand fold and then some.

On weekends, Rusty, Tess and I like to take hikes and explore together. Whenever possible, we seek uncrowded locations where Tess can be off leash as much as possible and can thoroughly enjoy herself. She usually wears herself out and inevitably falls asleep on the backseat during the drive home.

She’s absolutely fantastic when it comes to travelling and having a harness on her while in either of our vehicles has made the drive that much more relaxing for all concerned. Our five-plus hour drives to Bullhead City don’t phase her in the least. She has a silly habit of pressing her nose against the edge of the open window while the car is moving and snorting as she smells the air.

Earlier this year, Rusty purchased a mountain bike. We were curious as to how Tess would do with him on the bike and Tess walking next to him. She LOVES it. Needless to say, her leash manners have improved a great deal during this past year with her. There have also been places where Rusty can ride and Tess can run free along side him.

I’m pleased to say that a few of our friends have retrievers. This has not only given Tess some playmates, but it has also presented us with the opportunity to exchange dogsitting services. [I don’t want Tess to ever see the inside of a kennel again if I can prevent it.] Indeed, Ridge who is an older black male lab has stayed at the house with us twice this year for a week or more each time. His owners will be taking care of Tess while we’re away for a week just after Thanksgiving.

This summer, Tess had the opportunity to enjoy water in many of its various forms i.e. the beach, pools (natural and man-made along with her kiddie pool), rivers, streams, etc. She now leaps into the water with utter joy, which never fails to bring a smile to my face.
The *leaping* picture was taken this past Sunday on the Lower Sespe River.
Have a great day!

BILLY & MANDY

BILLY & MANDY

Dear GHS,

I just wanted to thank you for helping me to adopt Kermit and Miss Piggy about a month ago. As cute as those names were, my little nephews have since renamed them Billy and Mandy after their favorite cartoon characters. They are adjusting great to their new home and getting along well with their new older brother Alex (the cat). They are both so sweet and loveable. Mandy loves to give kisses and Billy loves to snuggle up under the covers and sleep. They’ve been so well behaved that I can’t believe it, and they’ve been responding well to our informal training at home (our new favorite show is the Dog Whisperer, Mandy loves to watch it with me!). Our favorite activity is walking around Balboa Island, checking out all the other dogs and watching the boats go by. They walk very well on a leash and get along well with all the other dogs and people they meet. I’m including a recent picture of them cuddled up in their favorite chair. Thanks to all of you for everything that you do and keep up the great work.
