DAY-Z

DAY-Z

Hello to everybody at Glendale Humane! Are you guys sure that she is 8? She has so much energy and just loves her walks. My husband walks her for 45 minutes in the morning - and I walk her for 45 minutes to an hour at night. Sometimes we even jog! She’s even been hiking up Runyon Canyon! We’ll take more photos over the weekend to send to y’all. Daisy should be your poster dog!

SMITTY

SMITTY

Hey, there -
Smitty Rocks! He is doing really well. He started off being very very shy, if not terrified, of strangers, especially tall men. He seems to have gotten over that and is just getting more and more into loving everyone he meets. Everyone in our office loves him, and he is a huge hit at obedience class. With the exception of a few bouts over food, he and Lily are becoming great buddies. Tonight they have been playing non-stop. We have started obedience with them both, Lily is just going along for the social side of it, and to keep Smitty company. He is doing really well - he can heel like it is no one’s business, and his sitting gets better every day. This week we started working on down and stand commands also.
We are both just stoked to see Lily so happy and frisky again. They are both so happy… it rules. Thanks again for such a cool dog!

SPLASH

SPLASH

Hi Star,
I have to tell you how delightful Splash is. We just adore him so much! He is such a nice dog and he really loves the kids. He is about one year old and is very well behaved. I got a doggy door for him, so he has full access to our enclosed yard and he couldn’t be happier.

DUFFY

DUFFY

Hi Star,
Biscuit, now Duffy, is doing great. He has already learned sit, no, and off, and to wait at the front door for the release command. We’re working on come. Duffy had another great weekend visiting and playing with his mini-doxie cousin, Max. Their small dog wrestling is a riot!
He is such a great dog and is a hit wherever we go. He’s quite an ambassador for rescuing!
All the best,
Kathleen

ZIGGY (aka HERA)

ZIGGY (aka HERA)

Hi Star, Alyce and Marsha!
Sorry it has taken so long to send a picture… Here is a picture from last Saturday. We had a fun time trying out lure coursing. As you can see, I am running in the opposite direction from the lure directly to my dad. Don’t get the attraction of chasing a plastic bag away from Dad… Now, a good game of fetch and I’m all over it!! I had fun anyway, and my brother and sister Greyhounds loved the plastic bag. Go figure.
I have gained 16 pounds since my adoption, and seem about right at 53. I hang with Dad a lot. He’s taught me to walk on lead nicely, unless there happens to be an “unstable” or off-lead dog around. That still winds me up, but we’re working on that. He takes me skating, runs me on a treadmill sometimes, and we play LOTS of fetch. He also takes me to work, to the hardware store and the wholesale house. I’m usually off-leash with him, as I do not wander far from his side.
I keep the Greyhounds busy, and they love to play with me. They generally get the upper hand and keep me in my place. I can get a bit carried away, but I am still sort of a puppy. But what’s up with their napping? I keep them awake as long as possible, but they’re really just huge dog bed potatoes! Thank God for roller blades!
Thank you all for rescuing me so I could be part of this pack. We are happy and healthy, and hope you keep up the good work.
God bless,
Ziggy and the Lawrence Pack

AXEL (aka MICA)

AXEL (aka MICA)

We thought that as it’s been a little over a year since we adopted Axel, you guys would like to see how he’s been doing. It’s been enchanting getting to know Axel’s little personality quirks, such as the way he crosses his arms when he’s lying down, or how he teases the next door neighbor’s dogs by barking right at the fence, sending them into a frenzy, and walking away smugly. Axel even makes it a point to sniff the behind of each of our guests before allowing them into our home. He has truly blossomed since we adopted him a year ago, and we are so grateful he has become a part of our family.
Thank you for bringing him into our lives!
