Success Stories

MISHKA

MISHKA

Hi GHS,

I see that most of these success stories are from recent adoptees, but wanted to tell you about a kitty I adopted at the end of 2001. This is Mishka and she is the Queen of my parent’s house. She lived with me for two years until the playfulness/bullying of her younger kittie friends got to be too much. She now is the sole kitty at my parent’s house where she rules alone and is adored. I still get to see her often and she stays with me when they travel. She is happy, loves to talk and has the best yawn/meow combination that we all love. The vet said she was probably 9 or 10 when I got her 6 1/2 years ago, but she is still doing great! I know how hard it is for black cats to find homes. It took her 3 months to find a home with me. I am just so thankful she ended up in your shelter where she was given the time to find a home.

Thanks,

Stacy

MARLEY

MARLEY

Dear Alyce, Star, and all the GHS Volunteers,

In September of 2007, I adopted Marley (He is now known as Jack.). The night before I brought him home, I was told that Marley had been at GHS for two years. Any animal confined 20-21 hours a day for two years in a cage should be at least a little crazy or neurotic. Not only does Marley have an even temperament, he has been an absolutely great dog.

Only a very caring environment could have kept such a smart, wonderful dog from going crazy and I have nothing but praise for GHS. In fact, in just about every conversation I have with fellow dog owners I tell them that if they or anyone they know of is looking for a dog they should check out GHS. You guys have a terrific program and you deserve every accolade for the work you do in rescuing dogs and cats. Thank you so much.

Sincerely, John Hacherian

JOHNNY

JOHNNY

Hi Glendale-

Thank you for helping us through the process of adopting “Sigi” (the dog formerly known as Johnny). We’ve only had him since Sunday morning, but as you can see, he is already helping us at the office….By the way, he is a champion runner. I went for a run with him & he barely broke into a trot. He was pulling me along! This guy has a ton of energy, is great on the leash, friendly to people & dogs. I’m talking up the Glendale Humane Society Shelter to everyone.

Thank you! Megan & Ed

GRANNY SMITH

GRANNY SMITH

Dear all,

here is a recent picture of Nikki (a/k/a Granny Smith). She is doing great. Nikki particularly enjoys her two daily strolls around the block, ambling and sniffing around in the yard, and taking naps with the cat. She enjoys snacking on apple slices. She is very popular with people at the dog park because of her endearing smile, and has even run into a former Glendale volunteer who used to walk her!

Thank you for rescuing her. Martina Bernstein

ANNIE

ANNIE

Hello GHS,

Just wanted to update you about Sadie (formerly known as Annie). We’ve had her for nearly two months and I have to say you found us the perfect dog. I couldn’t have imagined a better one. Sadie is quite a character. She has adapted really well to our home. She is such a smart dog. Sadie is now house trained and is learning her commands like a pro. I’ve even taught her to roll over for a reward. We usually walk her 3 times a day and she draws a lot of attention for her good behavior, and adorable looks. She has also been great with the kids. We love her so much. She has benefited our home in numerous ways.

Best wishes,

The Mochries

LINDY

LINDY

Hi. I just sent you a long email with pictures but I think my mom, Jill, hit the wrong button. Anyway, here are some shots of me and my buddies, Lola and Charlie. If you remember, they brought me home from you guys in April. Then we adopted Charlie from the Rancho Cucamonga shelter in June. He is a very handsome, 8 1/2 year old Lab/Gordon Setter mix. I sure know how to pick them. He kind of reminds me of Jethro!

To make things interesting, Samantha, Bob’s daughter, was going off to college and needed a home for her dog Lola. Sucker that she is, Jill thought, “Well, what’s one more dog!” What a hoot! Lola and I took some getting used to—well for the first week anyway. I’ve heard Jill saying it was a very long week–for her and Charlie. But then we settled in and I showed Lola, 2 1/2 year old, 85lb female chocolate Lab, who’s who! It was also a long first week for Charlie as Lola knocked him into the pool!

Aren’t we a fine looking bunch!!! In case you didn’t get the last note, I am doing GREAT! I’m confident and love to be petted by Bob! I can’t believe what I was missing out on with all of those nice, strong, men!!! Lola made all of the difference in the world. They think I’m jealous of Lola so I come up to Bob. Whatever……..he has big strong, but kind hands and feeds me every day!!!

So anyway I just wanted to thank you for taking care of me the last few years, and share some pictures of my new family with my old friends at Glendale Humane. All my Love, Lindy, Charlie, Lola, Jill, and Bob
